MDK Motorsports Partners with Competition Motors for 2025 Ford Mustang Challenge Season

MDK Kicks Off Series with Podium Finish at Sebring International Raceway

Pataskala, OH, March 25, 2025 – MDK Motorsports has revealed its new racing partnership with Competition Motors for the 2025 Ford Mustang Challenge season. The two renowned Ohio-based racing teams joined forces March 12-15 at Sebring International Raceway for the opener of the second season of the IMSA-sanctioned Ford Mustang Challenge series, where driver Tom Tait took third place in the first race of the Dark Horse Legends class.

This collaboration sets the stage for an action-packed Mustang Challenge season, with returning drivers Tom Tait and Jim Farley leading the charge.

  • Tait, who joined the MDK team for the 2024 Ford Mustang Challenge season, captured the series debut event win at Mid-Ohio in the Dark Horse Legends class, and finished 4th overall last season in Dark Horse Legends points standings. A seasoned racer with an impressive 85% podium finish rate, Tait’s career highlights include competing in the 2022 and 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championships, and the 2018 and 2019 Porsche GT3 Cup Sprint Trophy Championships.
  • Ford CEO Farley is a passionate racing enthusiast who returns to the series after competing with MDK at the inaugural Mustang Challenge event in 2024. A collector and racer of vintage vehicles, Farley frequently competes on tracks around the world racing his 1965 Ford GT 40, 1966 427 Cobra, or 1978 Lola 298, among others. He also hosts DRIVE, a podcast that rekindles America’s love affair with cars.

“We’re beyond thrilled to take our longstanding business partnership with Chris Lucas Competition Motors to the next level this season, combining our strengths to create a true racing dream team,” said Megan Kvamme, CEO of MDK Motorsports. “The 2025 Mustang Challenge season promises to be a highly competitive and action-packed year, and we’re ready to shift into high gear and leave it all on the track!”

“We are greatly looking forward to racing alongside our longtime partners and friends at MDK this year, and showcasing the powerful strengths we’ll achieve by bringing our two teams together,” said Chris Lucas, team owner of Competition Motors. “The MDK team is like family to us, and with our strong lineup of talented drivers, we’re poised for an exciting and competitive season.”

Now in its second season, the Ford Mustang Challenge was created by Ford Performance and sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). The series allows drivers up to FIA silver ratings to compete on a level playing field against other racers aboard the same 500 horsepower, V8-powered car – the engine sourced from the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse coupe road car.

The 2025 Ford Mustang Challenge season schedule includes seven events hosted at some of the country’s most legendary tracks:

  • March 12-15: Sebring International Raceway
  • May 9-11: Laguna Seca
